2009-10 ~ In his third year at Pacific Johnson is making serious noise to contend for both Player of the Year and Most Improve Player. He leads the Tigers with a 72.4 scoring average with aa team-high eight rounds at par or better. He won his first collegiate tournament at the Bill Cullum in October with a blistering opening round 66 on his way to a three-round 207 total. The Arizona native also finished 13th at the Pacific Invitational and added another top ten to his resume with a ninth at the 2010 Rice intercolleigate.
2008-09 ~ Played in every tournament for the Tigers in ‘08-’09. Best finish was 10th at the Big West Championship. Was second on the team with seven rounds at par or better, shot a season-low 68 in home state of Arizona at the Cowboy Classic.
Summer 2008 ~ Alex played in the U.S. Amateur Qualifier, posting a 68-69 at Oro Valley Country Club, missing out by just two shots. He also shot a 73-66 at the Public Links Qualifier at Cave Creek Golf Course. He advanced to the round of 16 at the Arizona Amateur, shooting a 77-71 to get into match play at Troon Country Club.
2007-08 ~ Johnson adjusted well to his first season of collegiate golf, playing in all but one of the Tigers tournaments during the 2007-08 season. He recorded the lowest tournament of the year for the Tigers, a 209 at the Del Walker Intercollegiate where he led Pacific to a runner-up finish. He posted scores of 69-68-72 for fourth place at the Long Beach State hosted tournament, only his third collegiate event. Following his showing there Johnson remained a consistent force for the Tigers throughout the season, his second best outing came at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational where he posted a 224 to take 16th place. He finished at one-under at the Pacific Invitational and took 33rd place at the Oregon Duck Classic.
Salpointe Catholic High School ~ Johnson attended Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson, Arizona. The sophomore enjoyed a stellar senior season and has played in numerous junior tournaments across the country. He took part in the FCWT National Champion on May 26-28 and took 13th place at the JGAA Thunderbird Invitational on March 3-4. He fired a career-low 62 at Tucson National to set the course record. During his stellar high school career Johnson finished sixth at the Arizona 5A State Championships in 2005 and 18th in 2006 while leading his team to a second place finish. In 2006 he finished fourth at the Thunderbird Invitational and as well as at the Junior World Qualifier. He also won the 5A Super Regional and the Nogales Invitational. During his sophomore year Alex had three runner-up finishes, at the Arizona Junior Stroke Play, the Phoenix City Junior and the Tucson City Junior. He also made the Sweet 16 at the Arizona State Amateur this summer and tied for seventh at the Arizona Pub Links.
