If they awarded match-play points based upon the support of the gallery Pacific senior TJ Bordeaux would safely be locked up for the final round of the US Amateur already. However, the USGA uses the more traditional "win-the-hole" format so despite hundreds of followers during his first round of match-play Wednesday morning Bordeaux could not hold on to an early lead and fell to Max Homa 2&1.

The Washington-native took an early match lead against Homa but ran into trouble as the back nine started and could not recover. Also falling in the first round of match-play was two-day medalist Jeff Wilson. The Pacific alumni could not get out of the first round as he succumbed to University of Virginia senior Armory Davis, 3&1.

With sophomore Alex Edfort missing match-play by a single stroke Tuesday afternoon and Jason Higton falling short as well thus ends the 2010 US Amateur for the Pacific faithful. However, the disappointment should be short-lived for the two Tigers as they now head back to Stockton to join their teammates who started classes this past Monday.

The Tigers, who start the official golf season the first week of September have a busy fall schedule on their hands with a quick trip to the Husky Invitational at Washington National on September 20th and then a trip down to Mexico for the Cabo Invitational.

Bordeaux looks again to be the unquestioned leader for the Tigers who return a strong class of seniors. Alongside Bordeaux look for Alex Johnson, Patrick Kucich and sophomore Edfort to see the bulk of playing time with newcomers Matt Ogden and Alex Wagner looking to start their college careers off sooner rather than later.
